Key Activities & Contests

  • Achievement Day — The "grand finale" of the 4-H year, scheduled for April 25, 2026, at Thibodaux High School. The 2026 theme is "Beyond Ready." Students compete in demonstrations, plant science, public speaking, and talent shows.
  • Specialized Project Clubs — Beyond school meetings, members can join specific interest groups:
    • Shooting Sports — One of the most popular programs, covering archery, shotgun, rifle, and hunting skills.
    • SEWcial Club — A sewing and textile-focused group.
    • Robotics Club — Focused on STEM and engineering.
    • Livestock & Horse — Includes parish-wide shows for rabbits, poultry, cattle, goats, and swine, usually held at the Ag Building in Raceland.
  • Unique Local Events
    • Sugar and Seafood Contest — A nod to the parish's local industries, held annually in Galliano.
    • "Egg Your Yard" — A community fundraiser where 4-H members and the Easter Bunny hide eggs for local families.

Membership & Leadership

  • Junior Leaders — For older youth (typically ages 13–19), this club focuses on community service and leadership development. They often meet at the Ag Building in Raceland and participate in state-level events like 4-H University at LSU.
  • Enrollment — Registration is now primarily handled through the 4HOnline system. Fees are generally split between a parish fee and any local school club dues.
